Choose the default for new indentation
- Open the current editor settings in JSONBuddy for Windows.
- Choose tabs or spaces for new indentation and save the setting.
- Create or format a small sample to confirm the result.
Confirm those effects, the exact option label, and the number of spaces in the product before making it a team convention.
Keep existing whitespace in context
A preference for new indentation does not necessarily rewrite tabs or spaces that already exist in a document. Inspect an existing file before assuming that a formatting operation normalizes every line. When whitespace is operationally significant, work on a copy and compare the result deliberately.
